Fit by 50 - No Excuses!

Thursday, June 23, 2016

Gulp... this is my FIRST ever video that I'm posting online (so out of my comfort zone). It's relative to my Beachbody workouts - but I felt that having been part of this community for almost 10 years... I wanted to share this BIG first step (now that I've broken the ice - I may start doing some regular SP Vlogs for my favorite team - Cutting Down the Booze).

This video was an assignment for us to say WHY we were doing the program with the 21 Day Fix Extreme TV Test Group... My WHY is I'm tired of having TONS of the 'before' pictures - and I want to be one of the amazing and inspiring success stories like so many I've seen with my fellow SP Friends.

A few of my 'why's' that I didn't mention in the video was that this milestone birthday (the Big 50) is a reminder of how my sister's life ended at that age... due to her addiction to alcohol. I would like to be honest and share that I too have struggled with alcohol issues as a means of coping with very difficult life situations. Using it to mask the pain and at times not drinking in a healthy way.

Alcohol has been the one thing I believe that has been blocking me from reaching so many goals - including this one - but it's time to take control and dive in. I am doing this in honor of my sister and for my daughters who deserve to see their mom live a long healthy and happy life. I have been a single mom for 14 years now - and it hasn't always been easy but I'm in it to WIN it for THEM too! I want to make them proud and set an example that there are better ways to cope with our feelings than masking them as I did ... Here's to working it out, eating healthy and abstaining from alcohol - with my upcoming NEW challenge 21 Day Fit Extreme which I'll be starting on Monday! This program doesn't allow any cheats or treats folks and I'm going for it! emoticon emoticon

I hope you'll follow my journey... this is just one step ... I know I won't be at goal in 21 days or even a month - this is an ongoing process, but this extra boost/motivation will give me the jump start I needed!

Those milestone numbers can be daunting for some - and in your particular case there's a personal angle as well........but you clearly "got this"! Keep it up!

I began my journey in recovery May 4th, 1998 and have been "healthy" ever since that day, a little over 19 years. My life is amazing today. I hope you find the joy and growth that I have found in my years in recovery. What is worrisome though is that you are expecting to be "fit" in a month and a few days and that is giving you a very short span to heal from alcohol and food abuse. It does take much longer to really notice the difference and to learn how to live on life's terms without hiding behind alcohol and food addiction. Try to make up mini goals, so you don't feel the pressure to succeed your goal in such a short time. If you have been abusing your body for years, you will need lots of time to reverse the effects of what has happened physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to yourself. Be patient and wait for the miracles to happen, because they will. Best of luck, fredie
