Summary from Session 3 of the "How to Eat" Class

Friday, June 10, 2016

This is my interpretation and a summary of information from a class that I am taking through work. It's called "How to Eat" and is based on the Ellyn Satter Institute's model of Eating Competence. ENJOY!

Thanks so much, Janet, for your note and comment. The breaths really save me so many time! I often start eating and then realize I didn't take time to breathe so I go back and take a breath and that gets me right on track with paying attention.

Gosh, I forgot about the breaths. And I think that is such an awesome idea. I also like the idea of the chart. Because, you know, remembering isn't a strength of mine right now. I can't even remember what day of the week it is.

I like that emotional eating is okay. Being mindful of it is smart. I'm not so sure I should call my eating "emotional." Right now my biggest problem is eating when I'm tired. I don't want to go to bed because maybe I'm watching a TV show and want to finish but I can barely stay awake. I certainly know better ways to handle that.

    Loved the video blog.

Thanks so much, Leslie!!! :-D A while back, our OMAT team did some video chats and it WAS indeed fabulous to see Spark Friends "live and in action". I'm really glad you liked the video blog. It was so much faster than the way I write blogs. I'm too much of a perfectionist so I edit and edit - OR, I just have a lot to say and it takes a long time to write it all. I see more video blogs in my future. LOL!!

I'm really learning a lot from the class. Some of it is just stuff I knew but was not ready to implement previously. So glad I found this class! :-)

This was just awesome, Mary. First, I must say, you are so darned cute. It is fun to see a Sparkfriend live and in action. Your class is wonderful and your employer is so progressive. Great opportunity.

Thank you for so clearly sharing the information from your recent class. I think I have naturally incorporated many of these principles in maintenance without even knowing it. Having choices and taking away the taboos of food are vital.

Have a wonderful vacation. You're fabulous!
