The Delicious Pizza Tower of Doom!

Wednesday, June 08, 2016

Why does the lady downstairs have to be walking into her apartment with a stack of pizza a mile high at the exact time my husband and I are walking back from our first work out? Doesn't she know that Daniel and I are on paleo and takeout pizza is NOT approved? Doesn't she know that my husband's kryptonite is pizza and he was salivating the entire way up the stairs and into our apartment? I mean really, people should just be able to tell by our big longing eyes and licking lips and be considerate of these things! Gosh! *end joke/rant*

In all seriousness tho, the smell that wafted off of those pizza's was divine! We both drooled a little trudging up the stairs.

I am a social person. I always have been. So when it comes to things like eating right and working out, it's a lot harder for me to do it alone. I just don't have the stone cold resolve to be disciplined unless someone else is suffering with me! ;) Now I've got a husband who is my suffering buddy by proxy. Who cooks all the meals? This girl. So Daniel is eating paleo too. Luckily he's not just doing this because I am, we're both in a place where we want to lose weight and feel like ourselves again. He's been a good motivator and I've actually enjoyed cooking some of these fun meals for us.

Yesterday we finished our first full week of eating paleo. Daniel hadn't weighed himself yet, but I had started off a week earlier. So far I've lost 6lbs! I know most of that is water weight and the rest may come off slower, but it was the encouragement I needed to make it to week two.

We also endeavored to work out together yesterday for the first time, other than taking a stroll around our apartment complex. We spent a good hour at the pool. It wasn't very organized, and I think Daniel struggled with the fact that it didn't "feel" like a workout, but at the end we both jumped on each others backs and made laps around the pool. I felt like Yoda training Luke Skywalker! I managed to have my own Yoda jump on board and surprisingly I didn't fall over and drown, so this may be a new thing for us.

In my last blog I mostly lamented and gave myself a pep talk, but I didn't set any official goals.
Here are my current goals, which will hopefully change as we go along to get more serious and continue a lifestyle rather than reverting to bad habits.

Lose 15lbs by July 4th weekend - Originally it was 10lbs, but after losing 6lbs last week I feel that I may be able to push it a little more. We'll see, but I'll be happy with 10lbs.

Fit into anthropologie dress by July 31st. It was a bit snug the last time I wore it and I'd like to be a little more comfy in it by the next wedding we attend. I adore that dress and I wont let it waste away in my closet for much longer!

At this point it's more about inches than pounds. If I can fit comfortably in my size 10 jeans again I'll be a happy camper. If I get down to size 8 jeans, I'll be beyond excited!

I would also like to be regularly working out, either with my husband or at a class. I'm a huge fan of cardio kickboxing and they just opened up a kick-box circuit gym down the road. It's freaking expensive, but I know I would love if Daniel and I did it together. So maybe I'll start saving the pennies so when we get to a place where I wont pass out (I don't throw up, I get mad dizzy) we can do a few classes!

Those are the main goals and I think they're pretty achievable. Not sure what Daniel's express goals are, I just know he wants to feel healthier and have clothes fit better too.

I've also gone ahead and purchased a fitness tracker called Moov. What I liked about Moov in particular that not only is it a tracker, but it's also a fitness coach. It's suppose to be able to push you further in your workouts and tell you what you're doing wrong so you can correct and get better. Have I used the activity tracker? Yes. Have I tried one of the workout programs? Nope. Oi.

Today I am happy tho, progress is being made, just gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other!
