Walking Challenge 2016 - Complete

The Walking Challenge at my work has officially ended!

I would love to say how I finished strong and crossed all my goals off my list. But truthfully by the second to last week, I lost my mojo. It was so difficult to catch up to the people in front of me. Even if I really pushed myself, I would not have caught up. Than 3 people zoomed right past me and I struggled to regain my spot in the top ten and I have been struggling to hit 10,000 steps again. Mainly it’s because my knee has been achy and my motivation fizzled.

Here is a breakdown of the challenge:

My work came in 6th place out of 47 companies – this is a lot better than last year where my company was 7th place. We probably would have done a lot better but there were one or two people on our team that didn’t take the challenge seriously and only logged in a few steps. This caused our average to be low which was a little disappointing.

I came in 13th place out of 24 employees – This makes me so made because I was in 9 or 10th place for most of the challenge and then 3 people (who were soooo behind me) quickly caught up to me. Once they caught up to me, they put their steps into double time and soon became out of reach. Although, last year I was 22nd place so I defiantly did better this year.

I lost 6.2lb during this challenge! My goal was 5lb and I am so proud that am below 200lbs now!

I did 392,600 steps in total during this month long challenge. My goal was 400,000 but the last two weeks were a struggle for me. I rarely got in 10,000 during those weeks. A combination of feeling run down, achy knee and lack of motivation really took a toll on me.

I have defiantly stepped up my activity level during this challenge. I make sure to walk every day at lunch (I really enjoy it) and on the weekends I try to get outside with my daughter. My daughter helps me with this because she loves to play outside. So I have a harder time keeping her inside all day which results in me sitting on the couch watching TV.

All in all, I am pretty happy with my progress. I really love the weight loss and energy I gained from the challenge. Now I plan to take it easy this week and not stress about steps. Next week I am looking to up my exercise game and continue getting stronger and losing more weight.

You should be so proud of yourself!!!! I am thrilled for you that you did it and that you walked so much even with a job and a family! That is awesome that you lost that much weight! You are a winner to me! I know some of the people you said before double logged their steps which made it unfair, but you know for yourself what you accomplished and you should be very happy with your accomplishment. You are so much healthier today than 1 month ago! Keep going!!

    Hey there Lioness,

You did a good job! There is no shame in where you placed at the end or that you didn't meet your goal of 400K. The success is you kept moving and you showed a weight loss. Just remember whatever challenge you enter the only person you are in competition with is yourself, others are there just to keep you company. A big hug and congrats to you for succeeding in your goals of weight loss.

I am so proud of your accomplishments!!!

Good job! I'm happy if I log 7000 steps a day, at least at this point.
