A Hike in the Park

Friday, April 22, 2016

At the invitation of a fellow Sparker, I walked on a wooded trail and photographed the hike. The park is less than 3 miles from our house and is a favorite for many reasons.

The trails are well cleared and much softer underfoot than concrete or asphalt.

The may-apples are just an example of the many plants that are found in the wooded ares.

There are open areas as well as wooded areas.

The trees are lovely when they bloom.
.

There are fields for soccer and baseball/softball/kickball.

There are bridges and benches. The little sign on the left side of the bridge says no biking. That's because....

there's a paved bike path that goes for miles.

More pretty trees and...

me, the happy hiker! There are also streams to cross and play in. Thank you for joining me at Shank Park!

Envy walking on something besides asphalt or cement. With braces on both feet and ankles, I hesitate to get off solid ground.

How beautiful!!! That is a really pretty walk. I especially liked the blossoming cherry tree & the cute little bench.

Gorgeous!! I sure envy you! There is nothing close to me to get away from the concrete. Some pocket parks, but few trees and mostly sport areas. The gorgeous river bank is too far for me to get to, I have to wait until I can stay with my Mom and enjoy walking to them from there. There are no restrictions on bicycles here, even on narrow trails. They need more places like this in the city. The golf courses are all surrounding the city here.
Keep on enjoying that wonderful nature!
