Half a tongue on Spark!

Saturday, March 19, 2016

OPTHAMOLOGIST--That's who I went to for my sore eye---and I have to travel 45 minutes away to get new glasses--next week---kinda a shocker to learn that eye problems are a result of a being treated for a low thyroid-
I do remember my Mom and Dad having "Eye problems"---putting drops in their eyes--

And on the home front here----5.5 pounds have gone----and it's ever onward to lose more---

Bread is a thing of the past for breakfast---no food after dinner---- exercise---and try to keep happy thoughts, in spite of grown children thinking they know everything!

Lord love a Duck----Grammas and Grampas only have half a tongue you know----
We are always ""Biting our tongue"!--

Just remember there is universal payback and one day your kids will be grandparents and experience what you have been going through. It has always been so. If we could only unzip the head, pour in the experience and learning we have acquired, think of all we could save our children from having to go through and learn by experience!
Glad your eyes just need some glasses!

The thyroid is rather amazing. I knew that a hyperactive thyroid could cause eye bulging and pain, but was unaware of low thyroid and eye issues! OK, don't bite your tongue until it bleeds!

For just two weeks short of forever... I have been attempting to live by this motto ,,,
"Think but keep your thoughts to yourself. "
That motto began life in my life more than 40 years ago at the job which supported myself and my children,. It tends to keep my mother's little fool out of trouble... at least the kind of trouble that talking gets one into.

Good luck with your tongue !!

I know what you mean about kids - especialy adult "kids" - thinking they know everything and that all you have learned and the wisdom you've garnered counts for nothing - yikes - don't get me started LOL!!!

I have to hold my tongue all the time, at work, with the ongoing drama between son and his girlfriend, younger daughter because anything you say to her sets her off, my himself because well you know he is a himself, 'nuff said. emoticon

Oh and the eyes. I have to get cataract surgery some time later this year. I have to see my ophthalmologist in August and then get it set up for after that. And younger daughter is having her second jaw surgery at the end of July and the new grandbaby is coming sometime in August so it had to be pushed back until later, maybe in October when older daughter is hopefully more comfortable with being a new mommy and won't need her mommy so much to help out. I need both eyes done, 2 weeks apart. So not looking forward to it. I would much prefer to just get stronger reading glasses but not the way to go.

Many many kudos on the weight loss. You are really working it and results are paying off!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

When I was raising my kids nothing drove me crazier than my mother telling me how to do it. Looking back on it now, 30+ years later, I can think of only one time I wish I had said something different, and even now it doesn't seem to have affected how my son turned out - and he's just fine. I'm probably the only one who even remembers the incident. It is each parent's prerogative to raise their children the way they think best, even when the grandparents think otherwise. That doesn't seem to change from one generation to the next, even when the world is turning upside down. GIve it 30 years and your son will be in your shoes with the same frustrations, finally figuring out how you felt. I, too, have learned to bite my tongue but with the perverse attitude toward my children that, "Your turn will come."

Meanwhile, I understand about the long trip for the glasses. I just made 2 60-mile round trips this week to doctor's offices. Still, as healthy as you seem, and as seldom as you need to see a doctor, give thanks for the ones who are there when you need them and enjoy the drive in good weather. Thanks for clearing up the matter of the qualifications of the doctor you are seeing.

Have a great weekend and I hope that eye feels better soon.

Small changes as up quickly! Five years ago I would not have brought exercise clothes with me on a trip. Today Dan and I went down for breakfast at the hotel in our workout clothes. Now we are figuring out where to go for some exercise outdoors before the wedding festivities begin.

Keep up the good work. You are doing great!
