The Waiting Room Workout
Friday, February 26, 2016
Yesterday I had a routine check-up with my doctor. Since I typically use my mornings (and ALL my morning energy) to work out, I went to my appointment dressed in gym attire. The appointment was early enough that I could leave right from the doctor's office and head straight to the gym, as long as the appointment didn't run too long. The concern for me was whether or not I would have enough time to get home, change clothes and over to the elementary school to surprise my son with lunch from McDonald's (him not me - haha).
After the initial check in process of weight, blood pressure and confirmation of medications, I found myself sitting alone in an exam room just waiting for the doctor. And it was freezing!!
I figured a little cardio, maybe some jumping jacks, would be a good idea to get me warmed up. Next thing I know I found myself into a full session of waiting room circuits!
I started with 25 Jumping Jacks
Then 20 chair bicep lifts
Then 20 Chair Leg Ups
Then 20 Chair Incline Pushups
Then 20 Chair Split Lunges
The amazing part was that I manage to get through 3 complete sets before the doctor ever showed up!! Good thing I'm a patient person (this is total sarcasm by the way).
Turns out someone booked a new patient for her in a 15 min sick visit slot. And the new patient was elderly. So.......yeah. She was an hour late to my appointment, but the good news is I seized the opportunity to get in a workout. By the time I got to the gym, I only had to do my usual cardio and a few other dumbbell exercises.
And I was still done in time to get to the elementary for lunch with my son!
