Hungry vs Bored

I am going to start asking myself one question before I eat a non planned food, am I hungry or just bored? If I am bored I will attempt to choose something from the following list instead and see if the feeling goes away.

- Go for a walk.
- Give myself a mani.
- Read a chapter of one of the books I currently have on the go.
- Clean something.
- Distract myself with some project.
- Write a short journal entry.
- Do some meal planning.
- Call a friend.

I am sure that there are more ways that others out there do this and would really appreciate anyone's feedback.

    Great list Beth! I'm definitely a "walk and drink" person. Start marching in place, get in a few more cups of water.
    I also keep sugar-free gum handy, for when your mouth feels like it should be working lol.

    Thanks for the feedback I have posted this list on my fridge and on the box in my cupboard where I keep the easy snacks. It's a question "Are you hungry? Or are you bored? You could be doing any of these things if your bored." Then the list. I've made sticky notes asking the same questions on each of my snacks for work I want to get a bunch of stickers I can write on cause they would stick better.

    Going for a walk or getting a workout is a great way to pass time. When I feel that urge to eat but am not really hungry, I try to drink 8-16 ounces of water or get busy taking care of things around the house. Sometimes it doesn't seem like there is enough things to pick up even though there's a lot because I go around and do that just to get my steps in as well lol. It helps a lot though!

    I slap on the headphones and start walking even if it's only for a short bit. I'll walk in place if I can't get outside. Then I'll drink a glass or two of water.

    When I'm bored I make myself drink a glass or two of water, the I look at my list of options (similar to yours).
