The early bird gets the walk in!

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

We were up at 4am---
And------it was OK!-
You see, son#3, the Policeman is driving to Sudbury to have his car serviced--
He invited Himself to accompany him--
They are leaving at 5-45am--

I loaded Himself with a few dollars---warned son #3 to watch his Dad who is a tad frail, watch out for moose on the highway--and of course, to have fun--

I am staying home with the 2 Germans---who I walked on the back road yesterday---
The steps add up pretty quick with justa short walk---I was impressed---My stepper hit over 7000 steps yesterday-
I've decided to raise the minimal am't of daily steps to 6500----That in itself must be a sign of Spring---It's MILDER!!!!!------Even the back road was ploughed--wider!~
So---Spark on my friends---Cook the vegetables---drink the water----and move more!
Yer life depends on it!

What do you mean by milder? -30 instead of -35?

Nice to have a day to yourself once in a while, isn't it?

The steps do add up. I'm pondering a fitbit. I've not been wild about the idea before, but my desire to increase walking and being precise about it is nudging me in that direction. If I weren't getting ready to hand over tens of thousands of dollars to buy a new home, I would've bought one already.
    Keep walking.
    keep cooking those vegetables.
And thank you for keeping me laughing.

A good day for everyone. Father son time is always special, especially now that himself is getting older. Me time for you without worrying about himself. Hope it was a wonderful day.

Those special times with just son and his dad are more valuable than we know. My husband and I divorced when our son was barely 3 years old, but my ex was always a good dad to his kids. Still in the the most recent few years I have come to believe that good fathers are more important than we ever gave them credit for. Besides that, sons take awhile to really appreciate their dads, and these one-on-times are wonderfully unique for both of them. I also know that even when we love our husbands dearly the retirement routine of nearly 24/7 contact can feel confining after awhile. We women need our time alone to rejuvenate more often than most will acknowledge. So have a wonderful time to yourself today. And be assured that whether you are ever told about it or not, those two men will also have a fabulous day.

What a wonderful bonding time for your Himself & Son #3. I am happy on their behalf that they have that opportunity to enjoy the outing. That reminds me of the times that our cherished son & his Dad used to head out on outings to Boston, to go to Fenway Park for Red Sox games. There was great excitement in the air for days leading up to the "great day" & then the delightful hubbub of the morning "the day" finally arrived. Fond memories to take out & enjoy all these years later.

Enjoy your time alone with Beau & Tess, as you look forward to your Himself's return & all the tales he will share about his day with Son #3.

My question: When you walk Tess & Beau are they on leashes? I would think that out in the country to allow them the freedom of no restrains would be heavenly for them; however, I can see where off the leash could lead to trouble, if they came in contract with wild animals.

We still use the leash with our "Little Gal" - even in our completely enclosed back forty, because one never knows what wild things can be lurking in the bushes or around the corner. We have had fox, a huge raccoon (at least, three times our "Little Gal's" size), bear, mountain lion, & even gray wolves in the area - as well as deer, so we feel it best to be cautious. Also, over the years the neighborhood cats came to realize that our property was safe from dogs, so they are still in the habit of being out there & we certainly do not wish for some type of confrontation between them & our "Little Gal" - she is a Shih Tzu with slightly protruding eyes & we have read that cats can be dangerous if they swipe at the eyes. We both go out with her off the leash to pay ball & she seems to enjoy that freedom to the max. Never off the leash on walks though, because it is the law that dogs must be on leashes. We have no way of knowing if she is a runner or not, because she is always on the leash. Although, while initially at our daughter's home for a month, she would go out with the Grandpuppies with no leash & their property has no enclosed area, so she could have run away if she desired to. Our daughter would go out with the dogs & when she squeezed a toy as the signal that it was time to go back they all immediately obeyed.

    God bless your day, Lynda!

Not a morning person myself so glad 4am was ok! I have to be up at 5am to get Sadie walked and fed and be to my job by 7am. Not crazy about the early mornings but getting home before dark especially in the winter is great.

I could just see me trying to walk Fasa and Menlo together. Despite his age Menlo still likes to zoom around and try to run on a walk. Fasa does good if he can get out of his own way, slowest moving dog ever unless he does see something far away that takes his interest, then he can run pretty good. Once when I was walking him around the yard he saw my neighbor's dog out and he took off to go sniff him out. Needless to say I was NOT going to be dragged by a 150 pound dog so I just let him go. Lucky it was my next door neighbor and not the across the road neighbor. My himself used to walk Menlo and Indy together before Fasa came to us. Poor Indy, Still missing him and it has been almost a year since we lost him to old age. emoticon But lots of happy memories of Indy who was a very happy dog.

    Happy Hump Day!!!
