Decluttering continued

Tuesday, January 05, 2016

Whohooo! decluttered my wardrobes - resulted in one bag with throwaways and three bags of giveaways. I am particulary happy about giving away clothes where the price-tags has not been removed, I will never wear those clothes anyway. I bought them because they were on sale and I thought that I liked them (I am not proud to have wasted time and money like that, but I am content in admitting that I have done it and dealing with the consequences) ...the hanging closet is still somewhat crowded, need to have another go at it, and there is not an entirely empty shelf in the shelf wardrobe but i am getting there!

Marigold suggested that I engage a professional to help with organizing and decoration... it´s not a bad idea although I don´t have that kind of money. And I do think that I know what I want to do, I just need to do it emoticon but I think I will bring the discussion to the feminist party I am attending tonight and see if I can get some more good ideas. I have packed a bag with books that I will pass on, I am keen on orgaizing my non-fictional books in some big groups - horses, personal development (including twelvestep books), feministic, weight issues, and "the rest... I think there is a librarian hidden in me, I just love to organize books although that is a thing that nobody else that enters my home will notice.

One of the things I want to do as a "nagging task" is to put wheels on my coffee table - daughter and me moved furniture around in november and the cahnge was for the better but the result was that the space in front of teve is limited - I will have to move the coffee table to do the Wii sports... and knowing myself I know that I am not doing that if it is hard. Having wheels on the table would make it really simple to move around - I love wheels on furniture, have it on the teve ...shelf? rack? Anyway it makes it a)easy to clean and b) easy to fix with the cables on the back side between teve, apple-teve,boxer, and Dvd-player. I also have wheels on the storage in my entrancy, good for vacuuming. It is probably annoying to have wheels on armchairs and sofas but if they where lockable...

Decluttering gives energy, but I also need to do some work tasks to feel good about myself!

Great progress! Books are/were the hardest things for me to let go of. There are very few I will read a second time; too much out there that I have not yet read and my more active lifestyle leaves less time for reading. So out most went. I have kept those that I truly use for reference. Mostly health related. But, seriously; do I really need cake decorating books from the 70's?? No, I finally let them go-along with the cake decorating supplies.

If you are not using it (honest - When was the last time?) , if it doesn't make you happy, if you don't LOVE it -- let it go. I'm not all the way there yet but making progress too. There's nothing like helping close a house of a dear friend that has passed to motivate you to not leave that job for someone else. Saving for someone? Give it to them now. Hugs.

I've been trying tomdeclutter for the past two years, but I always seem to remember a sudden sentimental attachment to something right as I get ready to throw it out or donate it.
