What happens when you wake up with a conversation going through your head that you had with a friend at Zumba the day before about running and not waiting until it is warm outside. Then you are browsing through the channels and see a movie you haven't seen playing you decide to watch it. It's McFarland USA a story based on a cross country team in CA... hmm a theme is developing.

So you get dressed, hastily plug your headphones and phone in while you are getting ready to go outside. It's 25 degrees out... this could be interesting. You tell yourself just make a mile and then you can walk home. Trying out new tunes and not loving it but you push on. Realize about 5 min in that you forgot to start your FitBit activity tracker... oh well it's started now.

You get a mile in and the pace is fabulous after not really running in a while, 13:22. You know you won't maintain that but a great first mile. And then it happens. Your phone dies... now you are just listening to your breathing and seeing your breath as you run. But you don't stop. You continue on, you know the route for 2 miles... you've done it many times last year so you soldier on.

I finished my run, yes it was cold, yes it was tough, yes the silence was frustrating... but I'm not making excuses. I got my miles in for the day and I'm focused on this journey.
