So something happened today that has tested my quest for happiness just a bit.
Most of the day was great!
Tonight my girls and I were getting ready to head home from a religious meeting when we realized there are NO LIGHTS on the dash of the van - NO inside lights to show any of the instrument readings, no clock visible, can't tell what speed we're at, can't see engine temp, or fuel gage - it's all dark. Headlights are working. Signal lights are working. Overhead lights are working. Power locks and windows are working. But seriously, when you are out in the country, on back roads with no lights and it's pitch black dark out there - you really NEED those lights on the dash!!!
With help from an awesome friend we ran thru ALL the fuses.... they all checked out fine!
We checked and double checked and tried a few other ideas - whatever any of the 5 of us could think of.
So we drove home with one of my girls holding a flashlight where I could at least see how fast I was driving. We made it home just fine.
So first thing in the morning I need to call my auto shop guy and see WHAT we are looking at to get those lights back. Thoughts in the group tonight are thinking it could get expensive. At best, it's going to be some annoyance to deal with as it's our only vehicle to manage all errands, appointments and jobs for our household.
But I'm not overly worried, sad or depressed about it!
A couple months ago I would have been crazy with negative emotions about something like this.
PROGRESS! I'm loving this new happier me!
Today I am grateful for:
4. Awesome friends!
5. Creative thinking!
6. Mild Autumn temps.
7. Not getting down about a not-good situation.
