Non-scale victory, courtesy of my trainer.....

I've been training at the Y for over a year now, and the trainer they assigned me was Emilee who is a hero in my eyes! She does not take my crap and whining and pushes me-that's what they are for of course. Have I called her names? Yes! Have I shot her evil looks-of course(but then I burst out laughing. But I really, really appreciate her and the time she takes to direct me for my exercises and always enjoy the sessions(even with DOMS-delayed onset muscle soreness) that always seems to happen HOURS after the torment-er, training sessions with her.
Of course I bring stuff on myself-I told her I did one arm rows with 50 pound dumbbells -so she had me do one arm rows with a 40, and laughed at the murderous look on my face-she had me do 8 reps, when I only did 4-6 on my own-brutal! And of course she has me doing walking lunges-which I despise--and push ups which I loathe worse than liver. But I am doing it, and can brag about it(after the pain)!
Yesterday she gave me an assessment of my progress over the past year-on a scale of 1-10, I was an 8--and she noted that I had become stronger over the past year, was able to do more, and willing to try different exercises. And that stayed with me the rest of the day yesterday...that even being middle aged, with carpal tunnel in both wrists to boot...that I was noticeably stronger. And THAT is more important than a scale, any day!
