I was reading another blog and saw this in a comment. It just hit me that all the effort that i or anyone puts out "to lose weight" is a life long effort, a journey. Our destinations are all the same, someone divvying up our stuff and saying some (hopefully) nice words about us. The words and images they will have are of our journey, the larger journey besides but including our fitness. Did we leave an example for them of consistent effort, of attainment, of forgiveness of ourselves and others when we fail? Were we lovers of ourselves in the best way? Did we treat ourselves and our physical body with non-indulgent respect? Did we treat others the same way.., as ourselves? Did we give ourselves soft answers that quelled our personal anger or frustration? When we hit that self inflicted fitness speed bump, did we say, "That's all right, keep going, you can do it." Did we encourage ourselves with soft words of reassurance? Did we encourage others?

Those actions are what will be remembered, those actions towards ourselves and others, those acts of forgiveness, kindness, and encouragement on the journey.

Who can I encourage today? We can plan for tomorrow, but we can only act today. Who can I extend love to on this journey, in this moment, now?
