The "Perfect" Diet

As I said in my previous blog I have been reading The Metabolic Effect by Jade Teta plus listening to a lot of his talks. Below is a partial quote from his Facebook posting today...

"The healthiest lifestyle for you is the one you can actually do over the long run that also improves your blood labs, helps you lose (or control) your weight and controls hunger/energy/cravings. When nutrition is looked at through this lens you don't need to obsess about... [what you are eating]. The point is to understand the major points which are 1) there is no perfect diet you find, the perfect diet for you is the one you create out of an understanding of your metabolism, psychology and personal preferences 2) quality & quantity of food matter so choose to eat in a way that balances both ends of the equation while still liking what you eat. Plenty of lean meats, vegetables and fruit along with just enough, but not too much starch and/or fat is what is usually best... A diet you can own, live with and love that also delivers results for you. "

I am learning so much and learning not to stress about diet & exercise because that stresses my body. I have a long way to go, but slowly but surely I will get there.

    Carrie, it is so true that you need a meal plan you can maintain long term.
    For me, it's easiest to keep my protein up to 30% so I'm not hungry and try to fill 1/2 my plate each meal with veggies.

    Positive self talk is something that I am always telling my clients to utilize as a healthy coping skill. I have recently started doing it myself regarding my healthier me journey. I am finding that it has been helping me with resisting urges and motivating me to stay on track. If you don't already utilize this skill, I strongly encourage you to do so.
