How can it be October already? In the UK, we are lucky enough to be having an 'Indian Summer', so as I was out in the garden pegging out the washing. I seriously had a 'Snow White' moment: the sun was shining; the birds were singing; the rabbits were nibbling, and the cows were gossiping. All I need were the strains of 'Heigh ho' and I would have been there. Two thoughts struck me:
1.The best things in life are free - to paraphrase Coco Chanel (she was also correct about the second one too).
2. How simplifying our home environment has had such a profound effect in such a short amount of time. It has been hard work; however it has been worth it. I feel a sense of peace and contentment that I haven't felt for years. October is now about simplifying our family routines, before the full onslaught of Halloween parties, Birthdays and Christmas, etc.
So I grabbed a cup of Lady Grey (my new favourite tea- I have tried to do herbal teas but to me they either taste of grass cuttings or water). Pen and paper in hand; went and sat outside on the patio and decided upon my goals for October. Time to get the secateurs, maybe the loppers and let's start pruning that dead wood.
October Family Goals:
1.Create balanced schedules for the whole family, the world seems to be going at such a fast pace. Time to slow down a little.
2.Incorporate more exercise into our family 'fun' days, so more swimming, hiking and bike rides. I need to look into other family active days we can do throughout the Winter... I'm perhaps thinking climbing wall etc.
3.My Six-year-olds attitude to food has come on leaps and bounds since I have changed my lifestyle. He loves to help Mommy cook and will try anything once, his food choices have become healthier and more varied. Now I need to deal with my Four-year-olds pasta obsession; it wouldn't be too bad but he will only eat one type of pasta with one type of sauce.... I mean at every meal. I do not want mealtimes to become a battlefield, so I need to give this some careful thought and consideration.
October Personal Goals:
1.Carry on with my lifestyle changes, try to mix up my exercise routine a little, try new things. I feel fearless. I don't worry about my wobbly bits now; they are getting firmer and more toned; some will never go, so I will wear them with pride because they are part of me. I no longer feel ashamed of my body.
2.I have started doing Kelly Howell 'The Secret Universal Mind Meditation.' I have noticed my sleep quality plus my thoughts and actions the following day have improved markedly. It works for me, so I plan to continue this meditation for the foreseeable future.
3.As I mention each post, I'm doing the Fall 5% Challenge with the Awesome 'A' Team, so I'm trying to lose 1 lb per week for the next eight weeks. I can do this.
4.I have a confession- I love cooking and cleaning. I find it quite Zen. I may write a blog on this.
5.Carry on with setting up my business.
6.Read, read and then read some more.
7.Set up a tranquil sanctuary for just for myself, I have a plan.
Finally, THANK YOU all for taking the time to read my musings, I appreciate your feedback, support and encouragement, more than you will ever know.
May YOUR October be out of this world and remember we have the ability to accomplish anything big or small, together.
