And Another Four lights have gone out of my life

Sunday, August 30, 2015

The past four months have been filled with loss. My best and only friend died. And four of my five cats have died. I am bereft. Yes, one was over twenty and the others 18. And I do have one 18 year old remaining. But their old age, while a gift, does not diminish my mourning. The cats and my dear friend made up for a mostly unsatisfying family life. Who has the kind of loyalty and affection of a discerning faithful animal?

I am so sorry for all your losses. Coping with such devastation is so difficult....may you find some solace in the fact that you provided your furbabies with great love and a great home..........and they will be waiting for you across the Rainbow Bridge. Your dear friend left her mark on your heart and would want you to carry on, remembering her with love. Come here for support as you find your way through your grief........and know you have people here who care. emoticon

I feel so bad for you! I am so sorry about your friend. I have lost several of those too. It is so lonely without them. I know how you feel about the pets too. I have lost 4 senior pets in the past year. I still have 3 left but I loved them all and miss them and I know you do too. They were apart of your life for so long. Each one of your pets were so pretty. They knew they were loved. You are obviously a wonderful cat parent and I hope you will consider saving more lives soon.

no no no! not 4 in 4 months!! oh my goodness.... I cannot imagine how you are coping. Life would feel so empty, so lonely! oh, the absences felt everyday... Your one remaining cat must be feeling them too. I hope you have some supports in place. When my best friend was diagnosed as terminal a few years back, I quickly found a good therapist, because I wanted to already have a relationship with one before my friend died. It helped...

One such loss is very sad, but four? That's just awful. I am so sorry.

My DD#2 and family are cat people - all rescues.
When one of their four cats died awhile ago, they went to the shelter to find a new pet. They couldn't decide between two and so adopted them both. Now they have 5.
