Baby Steps to Wellness

Eight weeks ago I had extensive shoulder surgery. I am on a slow but steady path to recovery. I go to physical therapy sessions Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Now I am going to our warm water pool Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday where I can walk laps in the pool and do gentle restorative exercises in the warm water. It is amazing how quickly we lose muscle mass and strength and how long it takes to rebuild those! Now that the weather is cooling off a little, I will begin to walk outside in the mornings. I will begin with just a 5 minute walk with DH by my side. I am going to put my Fitbit back on; it has been on vacation all summer!!
I have tried to eat lots of healthy foods, especially those rich in protein. Most of my day has been spent in the recliner we purchased after my injury. I have gained four pounds since my injury June 5; more troubling is the fact that I have lost a lot of muscle and gained a lot of flab. I have my work cut out for me! I can do this with the help of Spark People.
