Day 1: It Begins Again

Monday, August 17, 2015

It always begins again. I think people forget that lifestyle change is a cycle. Maybe on your first go around you stop drinking pop. Then a couple years later you get the itch to "get healthy again" and you start to up you water. Maybe two years ago you started walking and now you're planning on a half marathon. If you work at it, it's an ever upward moving cycle.

Yeah, my weight is where I started when I started at SP, but my quality of life is leaps and bounds better. So now I'll take the things I've learned over the past two years and regularly apply it to myself because I have the time, the energy and the drive. And I'm not alone!

Meet my weight loss buddies!

I have also been a negligent cat mom. :( I didn't know that once a cat is spayed or neutered you need to put them on a lower calorie diet than when is typically recommended by manufacturers. So even though I've been feeding them the "minimum" they've still been gaining weight.

So we're all going to lose 10% of our body weight together! www.sparkpeople.com/blog

(And then they will continue to move forward - healthy household by 2018!)

Me: 143 to 129
Ginger: 14.3 to 12.9 (interesting! She is 10% of me! I have to lose a Ginger)
Renni: 17.2 to 15.5

I know my plan. It works great for me and now that I can actually pursue it with the attention that it deserves I'm excited to see how my energy changes.

As for the cats I'm switching them to senior food in the morning and a wet food a night, restricting their calories and then playing with them when I can. They play with each other a lot but obviously that's not enough.

I'm off to start my day!

I have to admit I've got 1 boy (Ibby) and 1 girl (Dora) who are a lot heavier than the others. All my cats free graze but I give them canned food & treats 2 times daily. I've tried to separate them & give them less but it's not going good!
