Florence Italy was gorgeous! It was also very hot and humid the 4 days that we were there but we managed to get out and enjoy for the majority of all of our waking hours. Come along while I share some of the beauty I experienced while we were there!
this is a side street church.
All of the churches that were built during this time were all very similar looking in color and style to the main church that dominates Florence, the Duomo.
This is the Duomo, it was massive and absolutely beautiful.
Over looking Florence from one of the many tall buildings we decided to climb all in one day.
The famous David at the Academia.
The quaint little side streets.
I hope you enjoyed walking along and seeing just a very small portion of all that we saw in Florence. The museums, palaces and churches are unbelievably beautiful. The artists that lived there and built this city were amazing.
If you ever have the chance, I would highly recommend Florence as a city to visit in Europe. It is a perfect walking city, almost every museum and area of interest can be reached on foot or hop on a bus if it is further than you would like to walk.
It has been 40 years since I visited Florence; thank you so much for your lovely photos! I am glad to hear that you found it to be a lovely city and a good walking venue. Your family is very photogenic!
When my mom, grandmother, aunt, and I were in Italy last fall, we spent a day in Florence, and I spent a few days there while studying in Italy during college. Without question, one of my favorite places of all time! I'm so glad you got to see it at night. The atmosphere changes so much after dark, and it really is magical to walk among all of that history outside of the regular "touristy" hours.
My best memory of Florence, however, will always be my grandmother sitting on the bench behind the sculpture of David, and musing over how well defined his butt muscles were. I'm thankful many of the people around us didn't speak English . 2078 days ago
Wow...you did great with all that walking and climbing!! It is just so fascinating how buildings could be built so strong, big and gorgeous all those many, many years ago!! When they didn't have power tools!! Amazing! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! You two look so fit and healthy!!! 2105 days ago
Great to see your pictures of Firenze! They bring back great memories of my trip there a few years ago. I will never forget turning the corner inside the Academia and seeing David standing there. Just stunning, isn't he? 2106 days ago
Thank you so much for sharing Florence with us! I wanted to go before, and now I want to go even more!!! It really looks like a place I would love (but I don't think I would climb on top of the tall buildings all in the same day, you did amazingly well!!!). Now back to my crazy Sunday, thank you again for a lovely break in my day! 2106 days ago

I would love to see Florence as an adult!!! I think I went on a short trip when I was about 10-12? And I don't remember that much other than being there and that I had wanted to see it because of learning stuff in school! LOL 2107 days ago
