Reset day 58: Tucker Tuesday and mother nature's paintbox

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

It has been hot here. Hot AND humid. Sticky. Yucky. Not exactly the weather that one wants to go out in and walk a big, black dog. The dog was panting before I put on his leash!

So, change of plans. Instead of walking the dog, why not take the dog swimming? Now my dog has never been to the dog beach, the dog park or any of those other doggie places. He is pretty big. He isn't fully trained yet. He forgets (or ignores) the commands. However, I decided that late in the day might be the perfect time to take him to the dog beach. I called in some support to help!

I asked my grandkids to go with. What better combination than kids and dogs? It ended up being me and my daughter's entire family on the outing! We loaded up in the car and headed to the lakeshore. Tucker wasn't quite sure what to make of all that sand, then he spotted the other dogs and wasn't quite sure about that either! We kept him distracted and got to our spot on the beach where there weren't a lot of other dogs. The kids took his leash and went running into the water. He followed until the water was over his head. He wasn't too sure about the swimming thing. It didn't come naturally to him. He has very big paws and was slapping the water with them, but he got the hang of it.

Before long he was romping in the water and fetching his ball. He didn't even seem to notice all those other dogs.

Michaela thought he needed to climb the sand dunes, so she took him for a walk up the dune and a run back down! I stayed at the bottom!

Before you knew it the sun was setting and it was time to go.

Grandma? Do we have to leave yet?

Tucker is tuckered out and grandma is too!

Mother nature had the paint box out and did a spectacular job with the sunset.

So no walk on in our neighborhood, but I did manage over 14,000 steps on the fitbit wandering the beach with the kids and dog AND kept cool in the process. Downside? Traveling home with a sandy, wet dog! Oh well, everyone slept well!

Today, work followed by mini golf and dinner with a friend. No walk. However I will do my best to reach my minimum goal and am already scoping out the restaurant menu so that I can make some healthy choices! The biggest challenge will be saying no to that bread basket of yummy rolls they are known for! I can do it!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

What a pure and wonderful day you had with your DD, your DGK, and Tucker! God didn't disappoint with the BLST that you had, and He sure didn't disappoint with the masterpiece He painted in the sky! Everybody looked like they had an AMAZING time and I had just as good a time as reading your blog and seeing the pictures to back up your story. Thank you so much for the commentary and the visual aides.

    Blessings!

Wow, what a fantastic idea on a hot day to cool everyone off! And what a beautiful sunset. I'm sure the car needs a vacuuming out - LOL. Have fun with dinner and mini-golf. I'm regular golfing tomorrow. You are right about the hot and humid - back from a hot and sweaty run today! Drinking a lot of water along the way and back home. Happy Wednesday!
