My First Cycling Adventure

Sunday, July 26, 2015

I joined a biking group and went for a "beginner's" ride yesterday. It was supposed to be flat terrain but it wasn't. I ended up walking my bike uphill many times along the route. We were supposed to ride 15 easy miles but we rode 18 grueling miles.

There was a dog incident, a beetle bug in my mouth incident, a popping of chain incident, a going off into a ditch, which almost ended in a wipeout, incident and a close to tears wanting to call my husband to come pick me up but he was at work incident.

Three hours later...I was sunburned, nauseous and had a sore bottom, but I did it. emoticon

Way to go, girl!!!! emoticon You made it through!! Would you do it again??

I love biking around town, but I'm a big weenie when it comes to hills, and I think I've swallowed more than my fair share of bugs emoticon . Don't let one grueling ride discourage you. Head out for a ride that you KNOW will be easy. There's nothing like cruising down a huge hill with the wind in your hair!

Good for you! That's why I hesitate to join meet-up groups that do various activities. Not sure if their level is compatible with mine until I get there; then it's too late.
