I have been on SP for 3 years and in maintenance for 2 of those years. Losing weight was challenging. I was determined that I could do it, but there are bumps in the roads. I kept at it though, I pushed through the plateaus knowing that even if I was not losing weight during those weeks, I was still getting stronger and more fit.
I joined the maintaining and transitioning to maintenance a little before I actually decided I was at goal weight. One of my sp friends had joined since she was very close and I decided that would be a great team to join so I could try to figure out maintenance.
Once you reach goal weight, do you think it will be smooth sailing from there? I was not sure what maintenance really looked like since I had never really done that kind of program before.
I had lost weight, I just didn't know how to go about keeping it off.
The maintenance team was the way to go. Reading the blogs, the articles, finding more wonderful friends that were on the same journey. It all helps to figure it out.
2 years later, I am at the same weight I was when I decided to say I was done losing and I was happy with where I was.
It was kind of scary adding a few more calories in each day and to tell the truth, I eat at the lower end of my calorie range which is really quite high because I exercise a lot in order to have those extra calories and my job is a very active one so it has worked.
I go out of my way to get steps in every single day, at work and at home. I will run a color run next Sunday which is where it all began for me with 5K's. I ran one in July 2013 and I could not believe how fun it was. I knew in order to keep the weight off, there was no slacking off on the exercise front this time. I could not go back to eating whatever I wanted. That didn't work last time and SP had taught me so much about healthy eating that I couldn't even thinking about eating like that anymore.
I am so happy that I was led to SP. I was surfing the web and found it. It was free, I thought, what the heck, it couldn't hurt to try it. I didn't really think it would help that much but I was desperate to find something. I was wrong. It helped me turn my life around and by watching me, my husband decided he could do it as well and joined about a year later and lost 30 lbs as well. SP works. I could yell it from the roof tops.
So for all of you still on the weight loss journey, hang in there. Keep on trying and doing what you are doing to lose and get stronger and healthier. It will all pay off in the long run !
SPARK on, have a safe and healthy 4th of July weekend!
Lots of hugs to all of my awesome friends who have kept me accountable every step of the way. SP is so successful because of the people that join you along the journey!
the races along the way.
How does it feel- pure awesome!
