Day 32: Getting an early start

Thursday, July 02, 2015

Our office is closing two hours early to give us an early start on the holiday weekend. No work tomorrow! I have taken Monday and Tuesday off as vacation days.

So with my extra two hours today, I am going to get an early start on my walk with Tucker. Not sure that I will walk any longer as my knees have been aching quite a bit on hills and uneven ground. I am hoping to walk about 3 -4 miles. Then it will be home to tackle some yard work which needs to be done. If I can get a good jump on it, I may be able to squeeze in some beach time tomorrow!

My facebook friend Mark Lindsay posted this photo of the lake and I couldn't help but feel the need to go to the beach!

Tomorrow will hopefully be the remainder of the yard work and some beach time with a walk with Tucker in the evening.

Saturday will be house work, packing, picnic with family and fireworks!

Sunday I am hitting the road with a good friend to go to Toronto. We have tickets to see U2. Yep u2! How cool is that? We have dinner reservations in the CNN tower. Should be fun - I haven't been up in the tower since I was a teenager!

Staying healthy during this time will be a challenge, but I think I am up to it. I had a test today. It was bagel day. I managed to stay away and eat my fruit. Some of the girls went out to lunch to a local sports bar/restaurant which has a little beach patio outdoors. That sounded so inviting after all our rain, so I was in.

I ordered the turkey burger which came with chips. I ate about 3/4's of the burger. The chips? Yep, I ate about half of them. I think next time I will probably ask them to leave them off my plate. I found myself putting them in my mouth while waiting for the last couple people to finish their lunches. I wasn't really hungry, but I was eating!

At 2 o'clock we had ice cream treats. Luckily they were just little dove ice cream snacks - one snack had 60 calories. It was yummy and just the little taste of desert I needed. The rest will remain here at work in the freezer and by the time I return next Tuesday, they will be long gone!

Yesterday I decided to start the month off with a little extra effort. I walked the dog a little longer than normal. I ended the day with 11 miles of steps on the fitbit. Yippee! A fine Walking Wednesday!

I have now walked 867.3 miles on the PCT!

This is Mather Pass

Here's the view from the pass

Pretty, but rugged!

Postholing in all that snow shredded my pants!

Good thing there is no snow in this little stretch. Gee, where's the store to get more pants? Might be another naked hiking day!

Hokey Pete! More water!

Guess what? this is the trail.... under the water!

there are about 54 more miles til the next staging point. Maybe I can be there by the end of next week. We will see!

Have a safe holiday weekend! Enjoy watching those fireworks, but don't lose sight of your real goals!

YEA!!!! More walking with your emoticon and that's a very good thing. I love the posting of your virtual walk and like I said, when I get done with my walk that I'm on now, I'll definitely be checking that walk out.

Have a great holiday and enjoy every minute. Keep making those good eating choices and keep on walking - you have really gotten to a good spot! I am hanging in there most of the time but have had a few terrible lapses lately so am trying even harder. Someday I'll get there! Hugs!

I had dinner in that tower a couple of years ago when I was traveling on business! It was a lot of fun. U2 - love them. They were just in Chicago and all the people I know who saw them said it was a great show. Enjoy! I hear you about the chips. If they are there they will be eaten. It is day 4 of Atkins for me. So far so good! The hard part will be Saturday at the graduation party. I'll have to stay strong!
