New country, new focus

Friday, June 19, 2015

Hi everyone, I've been silent for a while dealing with tons of stress. Unemployment, MIL stress, financial stress, school stress, you name it. But, now it seems we have a reprieve and my new life has started here in Bangkok! Yes, we moved to Thailand. My husband, who had been unemployed since October, got hired here in April, and when the school year finished a few weeks ago, my son and I followed him.
It was a crazy few months for me as single-parent, part-time employee, packing up the house, selling and/or giving away most of our possessions, etc. It was so stressful!
Now, however, he's working, we have a cute little apartment in downtown Bangkok, this week we found what I think is a nice school for our son, and I'm decompressing.
The apartment has a gym and a pool and I returned to weight-lifting yesterday for the first time in a year. It felt great!
I feel very positive about this. I'm going to start learning Thai, and today I'm off to a job interview for a part-time job.
I'll write more when I can and include some photos asap.
Thanks for sticking with me Sparkpeeps!

Wow, what a surprise to log in this morning and find that you have moved to THAILAND! That is so exciting! It sounds as if everything worked out very well and you have found a wonderful place for all three of you. A cute little apartment in downtown Bangkok, a nice school for your son, weightlifting for the first time in a year--all GOOD! In fact heavenly.

Now we're both in Asia, so I think we'll be awake at similar times. Take care and enjoy your wonderful new life in Thailand!
