I have been battling health issues for some time now. I have been seeing the doctor about sinus problems and breathing problems. He told me that he thought the breathing problems were because of the sinus problems. After tons of medications and nasal sprays, my doctor finally decided to send me for a chest x-ray. He also gave me a prescription for an inhaler. He said that would help with my breathing problems.

The day after I had the x-ray I was back in the doctor's office. He told me that my x-ray showed some leisions on my right lung, and he thought it might be cancer. He then scheduled me for a CT scan, which I had on Monday. On Thursday I saw the doctor again, and he informed me that the CT scan shows the same results as the x-rays, i.e. that I have cancer. He said that it is in the early stages, so there is a good chance that I can be cured. He told me he had sent a letter to Cancer Care to arrange for me to see an ongologist and see what comes next. He told me that I would probably have a biopsy, and then they would decide on treatment. He said I would probably need surgery and then chemo. Wow! What a shock to the system. It was even harder, as I was alone.

I am not sure whether I want to tell my family now, or wait until I go and see the ongologist. My doctor told me that he could arrange for someone to be with me when I get my family together to tell them, that way he/she could explain things to my family. I will see if this is the way I want to go.

I met my best friend this morning for breakfast before we went to the knitting club, and I told her my news. We talked about things for a while, and then she told me to call her as soon as I heard from Cancer Care, as she was going to come with me to the meeting. She said there was no way she was going to let me go alone. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful friend. We are so very close and have so much in common. We call each other adopted sisters. I was up all night last night, as there were too many things going through my mind. My friend told me she was up and down all night as well, and she couldn't understand why, as she was not sick or anything. Today she said that now she knew why. We are that close.

I am going to wait to tell my children the news until after I see the ongologist, as now I know I have someone there for me. I will then decide how I want to tell them. I am blessed to have a wonderful church family, and I have our prayer chain praying for me. i also have my small group bible study praying for me. Today a very special Spark Friend and Sister in Christ told me she was putting me on her prayer chain. God is so good. I know He will be with me and help me through this, and I know he will provide the care and support I need. He will never leave me nor forsake me.

Darlene, I found your previous post doing a search for post surgical recovery. I had no idea when I wrote a reply that you had since had a cancer diagnosis. It's great you found it early. I can certainly understand wanting to know more before telling the kids - moms do that. I don't know if you've had the biopsy yet, but sending prayers and healing thoughts your way.

I came to read your blogs and see if you'd posted about this. So so sorry to hear this, Darlene. Early stages is great news, at least!! I remember the sinus issues . . . this still came as a shock tho.

Family is . . . difficult, and DIFFERENT, for ea individual. You know best about those kinds of decisions, as none of us have your particular family.

Definitely having a pastor w/you when you tell your family would be great. Not so sure about a medical or social worker medical person. Maybe both? I say, get all the help you can, from all the sources you can, for every step of this road. So glad your friend will be there with you.

You have really been through it. Too many losses piling up. Definitely praying and putting you on prayer chains. Cancer is definitely a name under The Name of Jesus. He bore three nails on the cross for us, and became a curse for us, to take our curse upon himself on the tree (the curse of living in a fallen world), the Bible says. The three nails were for overcoming for us in the areas of sin, sickness, and death. And the stripes of his lashing corresponds to one lash for each of the main areas of diseases - by His stripes we were healed, and by His stripes we are healed, the NT and Isaiah say.

emoticon First I want to say Keep your eyes on the Lord and your ears on HIS Words.

Second...in my opinion I believe that you SHOULD let your children know. It's important for them to be there as well to HEAR what they are advising and doing. This is what I would want to be done. I was with my mother and took her to her appointments. I would have been heartbroken not to be there from the beginning.

STAY encouraged. LIFE comes from the LORD Who is YOUR Help at ALL times. He HEALS and FILLS Us with so much LOVE. Trust and LEAN into HIM.

Than YOU Father that YOUR Word declares that by Jesus Christ Stripes We ARE Healed. I thank you for confirming your Word in my Sister's body. ANY thing else that's there may it be removed. YOU know ALL things and have ALL power. I believe your Word to be true that says Pray one for another that you may be healed. You are the repairer of the breach and the RESTORER of life. Faithful you are and I than you for your LOVE that runs deep for my dear sister. Thank YOU Father for Your Love that never fails and Your Word that is TRUTH!

    I'm praying for you always!

    Dearest Darlene,

I am so sorry to hear this but one thing for sure my prayers are with you always.

I am believing for a real break through here that this situation will be turned around and for a mighty healing in your body to God's Glory. We serve a Big God, He is Jehovah Rapha the Lord who heals you, it is with the Stripes He bore on His Back that we are healed, I am believing for this for you my dear friend and sister.

I stand with you Darlene for God's Wisdom, Grace, Strength, Peace and Direction for you that you will know when and how to share the news with your family.

These are times like this when I wished I lived closer so I could be a help and support to you, however, miles do not separate the friendship we share, bottom line I am here for you and my prayers are with you daily.

Darlene, at the end of your post you said and I repeat along with you and know that Our God LOVES you with an everlasting love and He said in His Word that He will NEVER LEAVE you nor will He EVER FORSAKE you... He is with you ALWAYS!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
