Plateaus Are Lame

So I just recently completed my first month here on SparkPeople. It is bittersweet for me, as I have lost about 3 pounds, but I know exactly why I am not losing more. I really struggle with eating better. I find that I spend so much time focusing on Tom and making sure that he is eating better and being successful that I set myself up for failure. It is really frustrating watching him lose and me staying at the same weight.

I had an awesome plan a few weeks ago that I was so excited for and then I was sick so I couldn't carry it out but this week I am getting back on the dang horse! My mother is getting married next weekend and we will be at a beach house for 4 days, which is so dangerous as we will be eating out a lot, but I plan to go on a nice walk or jog each morning and keep myself moving. They are getting married on the beach, so we will be in a beach house not too far from the water so I hope the beautiful view motivates me to get out there and keep moving!

    You can do this! 3 pounds is nothing to sneeze at! You're doing great!

    I totally relate to feeling like you focus more on your man than yourself. I take care of my boyfriend and he takes care of me, so we both end up feeling loved and cared for. Is there anything atom could do to help you?

    Also, remember that men naturally lose weight much faster than women bc they have more muscle and faster metabolisms.

    Keep Sparking! I have two picnics today and I've already logged my food so I will stick to my plan. I will also bring my night guard (I wear it so I don't grind my teeth) for when I'm done eating. It helps me not graze. LOL

    Take a chill pill. You lost 3 pounds! That's immensely better than where you where or where you might be if your continued your old diet habits. Your at the beach with your BF and pup, go wonderful long walk with them and have a wonderful holiday.

    Looked at your trackers. Doesn't look like your actually tracking what you eat. (I learned I can't eat hot-pockets! Wow that's a lot)

    You didn't post a plan. Your page said you had one why not post it? I came here looking for help and didn't post one the first couple of weeks and I've had to go back and redefine it several times since, but it's part of the plan. Make a plan. Try it. Tweak it. Try it. Tweak it...one step at a time.

    It sounds like you have your head on straight. You're planning ahead for this wonderful special event. Vacations often trip us up, but if you are prepared for it...you will be fine!

    By the way, a 3 pound loss for your first month is emoticon

    My wife hit plateau also so I showed her some my strength training regimen & she lost 2 lbs. so far. It's never easy for everyone but it's worth the effort. Stay strong!

    Vacations and get aways can be a challenge. For me I slow things down when I order out and I look things up and still track. Continue to move and walk will help not only the weight but with your mind. Don't know about you but family get togethers can sometimes lead to added stress. For me that means the possibilities to eat bad (comfort foods). A Tool I use is to pack healthy snacks. ie: 1/4 cup servings almonds, beef jerky, carrot sticks. Really saved me on my last family trip! Keep on sparking it WILL work :)
