Updates.....

Friday, May 15, 2015

Oh boy - so at the docs Wednesday she told me she didn't want to order any testing at this point - that there are numerous reasons for these types of symptoms. We are starting with a BRAT diet (banana's, rice, applesauce and toast) with water. I can add bland, chicken breast to that - but no heavy seasonings. No fresh fruits, no fresh veggies, no whole grains .... all the stuff I SHOULD eat I can't eat right now. Plain ol' toast and white rice is pretty boring! So far, not seeing the results.... so testing may be in the near future.

My friend who had the surgery - well she had brain surgery - she had a non cancerous tumor behind her ear - which they discovered when she had a mild stroke. They did surgery for 8.5 hours yesterday and all went well. She will lose the use of half her vocal chords and the ability to swallow on one half of her body, and her balance will be effected. She is in recovery and healing. More will be revealed as time goes on. So keep the prayers for her coming!

My other friend (the obese one I blogged about earlier) is back in the hospital. She has been having bouts of dizziness. They are running tests to try and figure out the cause.

So, I am counting my lucky stars and thankful that I am home, not in the hospital and able to do what I can do - even though it isn't what I am used to be doing!

I hope everyone has a wonderful, healthy weekend! emoticon

I hope the new diet helps quickly, too - but have you tried to go gluten free??

Ooooh...I hope your new "diet" clears up your troubles quickly so you can eat real food! White rice? I don't even have any in the house! Applesauce, either. Pleased that you did see the doctor though.

So glad your friend's tumor was non-cancerous. I'm sure she will adapt to the other issues that are the by-product of her surgery.

I hope they find something soon for your tummy troubles! My trainer went to urgent care today b/c they think he has gallstones. My sister in law just had a procedure done to clear a clogged bile duct, and will have another one coming up. I guess tummy troubles are just in the air! I hope yours go away soon.

Hope the BRAT diet does help and you can re-introduce foods back slowly. Did your friend have an acoustic neuroma? I took care of a number of patients with that type of tumor back in my hospital nursing days. Hope she is recovering well!
