April Check-In

April is over & my favorite month of the year is here--May!! May is usually just so beautiful, the weather is warming up, plus I celebrate my birthday & wedding anniversary. Oh, and we get a day off work for Memorial Day. I just love it!

But here's my April check-in...

Fitness:
I'm still waking up 4-5 mornings a week for at least 20-30 minute workouts. I've been loving low impact TurboFire HIIT workouts, and have been scouring the internet for prenatal strength workouts that don't bore me to death. I still do some T25 but am getting kind of bored with it. It's been nice enough to walk at work some days and walk the dog after, so most days I can squeeze in at least 20 minutes of walking. Additionally, a friend of mine who is also pregnant meets up with me once a week (if possible) to walk for about an hour by the river. I've been wanting to get to Zumba, but have found it hard with other things I have scheduled. I get sore a bit more easily-especially in my hips, glutes, and groin so I've been slowing down a lot.

Nutrition:
Eating hasn't been terribly unhealthy-no more so than any other point in my life. My "cravings" are never super healthy, but I don't always give in to them either. Last week it was chocolate chip cookies-and bless my mother in law for making some. Sweets tend to sound the best (as opposed to salty foods like pizza & pasta early in pregnancy). I try to track my intake most days of the week, and am trying to make sure I'm drinking ample amounts of water. Two weeks ago I had to take the three hour glucose test which gave me quite a scare. I knew if I had gestational diabetes I'd do my best to control it with diet, but didn't want to have that burden on me, so I was extremely grateful when the labs came back normal.

Weight Gain:
As of the end of April I was 30 weeks and have gained 22#. I'm happy with that, but know I am picking up some bad habits (eating junk, working out less) that will be hard to break later. However, I realize I am forming a new relationship with my body that I hope will last long into the future. To this point, I like the way I look while pregnant and know I'm gaining appropriately.



What's Been Going On:
The weather has been warming up around here. I absolutely love getting outside! We've been cooking out, walking the dog, and keeping the windows open at night.



At the beginning of the month, we celebrated my nephew's 3rd birthday. They live 4 hours away, so it's always so great when they come to visit. We took both our nephews to Target to pick out the 3 year olds birthday present which was quite an experience--and it really showed us how different each little kid can be!

In the middle of the month we took a "babymoon" of sorts to an area about an hour and a half from home. We spent 2 days just walking around a historic downtown area, visiting shops, eating yummy food, and relaxing in the hotel room. It was so nice to not have a set agenda & just be able to lay around if I wanted. I generally have a hard time relaxing so it was a perfect get away!

We had our first baby shower at the end of the month. It was a laid back couples shower with friends and some family. Baby got lots of books, a stroller, diapers, some really cute clothes, and so much more. We are really so blessed to be surrounded by such great people!





My sister is due 4 weeks before I am, so a few weeks ago, we had a friend take some maternity pictures of us. I also plan on getting some of my husband and I in the upcoming weeks. I want to make sure I don't miss anything with this pregnancy.
