A day at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum-a perfect day!

Today we decided to go to an Arboretum that I had seen on Facebook but I had never been there. It is about 45 minutes from our home, if it was closer I would love to have a membership there. It is 11,000 acres of trails and land. Perfect in the summer for walking and visiting beautiful flowers and gardens and in the winter it is open for cross country skiing and snow shoeing.
It may have been a little early in the season as many flowers were still not in bloom but the ones that were- beautiful! A riot of every color you can think of.
Here are several that were my favorites!
My husband the navigator studying the map.
I love tulips, I can't grow them myself but I love to see them in other people's yards!
The Japanese gardens.
I thought these looked like stain glass flowers.
This is going to be a patchwork quilt pattern when everything is in bloom.
The long and winding road.
They have every single tree that you can think of and they have them in different sections of the arboretum grounds.
These were my favorites!
And then on to the sculpture gardens.
It was sunny, warm and just perfect to be outside smelling the wonderful scent of all of the trees and flowers that were in bloom.
I would love to go back in July when the roses are blooming and a few of the other gardens as well.
I hope everyone had a great Sunday and I hope you enjoyed walking along with me for a beautiful day in the gardens!
MPLSKEN Wow, beautiful! I always drive by that place on the way to my partner's brother's house in Victoria. Now I see what I've been missing out on! Definitely need to go there this year! 2200 days ago
Love seeing any of my sparkfriends doing this! Good for you! I appreciate your sharing it with us Holly & hubby!! Such a beautiful place! Reminds me of Brookgreen Gardens in the Myrtle beach SC area. I especially love the statues, as I did down there! Thank you for showing us how much fun exercise can be! Thats why I post blogs like that too, as you know! You don't know what you're missing until you get out there to see it!! Now I want to find the nearest garden to explore...I believe its farther than yours is. Have a great week! Hugs 2202 days ago
What a gorgeous place!!! Thank you so much for sharing Holly! I loved all the pictures of the flowers and trees, and the sculptures also of course, but my favourite was the one of you with the cherry trees, this one is really wonderful! 2202 days ago
What a beautiful walk, and seeing the paved pathways makes me think Erik could do this too. I am sure I can find an Arboretum close to us-preferably not down town Atlanta 40+ miles is a bit much for me-especially heading into town. Thanks for all the beautiful pictures. 2203 days ago
Such lovely pictures and it brought back the day we spent there the first time a few years ago. We were there later and everything was gorgeous. We need to get back there one day to see what is different out there now. My hubby and I also visited a similar gardens in Az. that wasn't in full bloom and I was disappointed. It was I believe in March, but some blooming was happening. 2203 days ago
