Yikes! It's A Little Scary

So today I went to Champps Restaurant with some friends and was a little worried that I would "fall off" the wagon. Restaurants like these are full of gooey, scrumptious, gazillion calories entrees. As I scanned the Menu of Tasty Temptations (MTT, for short), it dawned on me to look up the calorie counts of these dishes on my phone internet. So I go to Google and type in "Champps nutrition information" and up pops a site that lists every decadent entrée/item that is on this MTT.
Ceasar Chicken Salad = 1,030
Fish & Chips = 1,110 (and that's without coleslaw and tartar sauce)
Potato Skins (4) = 1,170
Cajun Shrimp Penne = 1,230
Bourbon Salmon - 1,120
What am I doing here, I wondered and feeling a little dreadful. Not to worry says my sensible half (not out loud of course). Just order one, split it in half and have it for lunch tomorrow. So I ordered the Bourbon Salmon and asked the waitress to bring me a takeout box with the order. I was surprised my friends paid little mind to me as I carefully portioned out half to the box. My best friend even asked the waitress to bring a bag and she put my box in it and set the bag on her side of the table.
I guess what was scary was not the whole thing or being tested at the restaurant, but realizing, maybe for the first time in a long time, that I am actually in control of what I eat/don't eat. Being purposeful in my choices and not just mindless eating means it IS all up to me. And that's a little scary...
