It's grocery shopping day again. You have your list ready, and hopefully have eaten your breakfast, or snack before you have left. not a good idea to go food shopping on an empty stomach. believe me!!
I'm a flyer gal! I look forward to my weekly flyers. I check out the specials, and sales, and make a note of them. I have about 4-6 stores I usually hit on a Saturday morning. Starting from the one most farthest away, working my way back. I'm usually done within a few hours. Yes, a few hours. I go by my list and get out. I don't browse. If I did that, I'd be there all day!
How many of you have chocolate bars, chips, jelly beans, or licorice on their shopping lists? I'm guessing, maybe 1, or none. It's funny though that those items seem to make their way into the grocery cart on the way to the check out, and then home! there is no escaping them when you go shopping. It doesn't even have to be grocery shopping. I've been in furniture stores with candy vending machines at the entrances. It makes it very hard to look the other way. BUT, look the other way you must!! Think of it as a challenge. A life long challenge!! You need to do this to feel good about yourself. you need to do this for yourself! having control of what you do, and what you eat goes a long way. Not just physically, you will feel less sluggish though. You will feel more confident, in what you can accomplish emotionally. Therefore you will accomplish more! It's not,'we'll see', or 'I'll try'. It's going to be. 'Yes, I'm doing this!' 'No more junk!'
I know it is hard facing the junk every week. It's hard for me. It's not an easy thing to do every week. Especially to a chocoholic! I also love jellybeans, and licorice. I also know how they make me feel physically after I've indulged!
I can't stop at one either. I endulge 'till the package is empty! I know, very bad. That's why I don't have anything in the house. I simply can't. I won't forget that it's there. It'll be on my mind 'till it's gone. I'm awful that way.
Next time it's shopping day, and you are facing the junk. Say no! walk away, grab an apple, banana, or sip some water. that junk will always be there. You don't need to bring it home.
