A hike in Hastings MN

Sunday, March 15, 2015

We went for a hike today in a little town called Hastings MN. In January, we had gone to a wedding reception at Schaars Bluffhead Center and both my husband and I said it would be nice to come back in the Spring and go for a hike there. Today was in the high 50's, a little windy but we managed to hike for 2.5 hours and over 4.5 miles and had a wonderful time.
Here is a little of the beauty that we saw.

This area is on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River.

As you can see, it is pretty brown here as the snow has all just melted and it has not been warm enough yet for much green to come our way.

Here is a little color in the woods.

A couple of berries shining through.

I thought these huge rocks- I think they are limestone were really neat.

I even brought my binoculars which we used a couple of times to look at the hawks and a couple of eagles.
It was a great day and we agreed that we would go back in the summer because the fields should be full of wild flowers and there will be much more green and leaves on the trees.
I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday and were able to get outside and get some fresh air.
