Day 1 of 70 of the Neon Ninja Challenge

Day one done...
I can't say that I felt strong on the first day out of the gate, but seemed to have done better overall than I thought.

What I did well
- I stayed within my daily calorie range (when I count the exercise calories burnt)
- I went to an indoor cycling class even though I choose not to do standing on the bike (because of arthritic knees) and didn't stay the entire 55 min class (I have no clue where everyone gets the energy and motivation)
- I was really tired after work, rested for 15 minutes before I did anything (self-care)
- I went to bed really early and had a solid sleep for 6 hours
- I didn't engage in my regular evening snacking

What I could do better
- I didn't stay away from alcohol
- I still had junk food: one choc heart, 1 red licorice, 2 mini York patties, bacon dipper crackers

Today, I plan to do the elliptical for 45 minutes. I have my breakfast and lunch preplanned (brown bag) and know what's for supper.

    good blog because it looks at both what went well and what you need to do differently. when I first started Sparking, I was only getting like 6 hours of sleep & didn't understand the importance of getting more rest. I can honestly say that now that I'm consistently sleeping 7.25 hours, I have more energy and get the same amount of activities done as I was before. anyways, that's just a thought for on down the road. baby steps are definitely the way to go ... trying to do too much too soon can lead to frustration and failure in the long term.

    On to Day 2! What I thought when I read this is that you are taking baby steps and honestly that often times works better than getting all fired up and then burning out. Your energy will increase! You got this girl! Keep on going. I have noticed- I sleep much better when I don't drink because it is still in the system. And too bad but vodka tonics for breakfast just don't seem to work either emoticon -It is 10 weeks Sister in Sweat! emoticon emoticon emoticon and do the best everyday. emoticon

    This is a great way to be accountable! good for you!
    Be careful when adjusting your caloric intake of food due to exercise. It is really very hard to know how many calories we burn off. Those machines just are an estimate.
    You did well day one! keep it up! Remember that alcohol will sabotage your caloric processing and fat storage, and it is a toxin. emoticon emoticon
