Love me?

Thursday, March 12, 2015

There's so much advice out there, you can't really escape it.

'You can never be happy with a partner until you're happy with yourself.'

'For people to truly love you, you must first love yourself.'

Don't work out because you hate your body; work out because you love it.'

But nobody has ever told me how.

If you discover the secret to that, be sure to pass it along! I think it's a big struggle to work toward self-love and self-acceptance. But, I think it's a struggle worth fighting.

Being honest with yourself is a start. Looking at yourself without blinkers on is a key. Deciding that you are more than OK right now , in this very moment ,as you are right now is the first step. Once you can accept that you have heaps to offer, that you are a person who counts, then you can like and then love yourself. It isn't easy and it takes time but it is essential. It is a process and it takes time and self reflection. It may even take the help on another trusted person to help you see you as you really are, rather than as the person we can sometimes think we are. You can do this!

I think that is something that depends on you - and that you find in you.

What are the things that make you truly happy? What are the things that you do that make you proud of who you are? And those aren't always easy. Tons of skinny people hate their bodies, tons of rich people hate their lives. The secret is living for yourself and taking the time to try to find out the answers. It's not easy or fast, but I'm sure you can do it.
