Walking... it's a start!

Sunday, February 22, 2015

Went out for a walk with my Daughter SofterSong and my husband. We brought our 3 dogs with us so they could get some exercise too. I haven't done any exercise to speak of for probably over a year. It was okay to begin and I did make it 0.88 mile but I am really out of shape! I will walk more this week and we joined our local YMCA so I will be going up there to work out on the treadmill and ellipticals (although those really kick my rear in a big way.) They have a Zumba class which I would love to join but not until I can walk a bit without feeling like I am gonna die. I'll be honest here... I don't like to sweat, I prefer being inside and out of the sun, I am not a fan of bugs (live in Florida... go figure) I am not a big fan of exercising in general but I KNOW there is no easy out. It is a must... and hopefully along the journey I will learn to enjoy it more. I enjoy music so I had my iPod all loaded up with "The Zombies" and walked along with that to inspire me to put one foot in front of the other. Did it make it easier...maybe, but it did make it more enjoyable to be sure.

My daughter, SofterSong is doing video blogging and I'm really enjoying her weekly entries. She is so clever and entertaining and truly helping to keep me on track. I am very thankful for my family who are helping me to reach my goals by joining in on SP. I'm going to try to Blog more so I can look back in the future to see how far I have come. I'm really easily thrown off track so will be logging my food daily to keep myself on goal. (Otherwise I go kinda crazy with sweets if I'm stressed out. My job is crazy stressful these days.) Planning is key. I have to have what I need to eat with me at work or I just grab some really bad food in the cafeteria.

Here is to a great spark week! Good luck everyone!

    MISSPALADIN ,

Welcome to the Spark People Family.

I am a member of the YMCA and I will have to tell you that I did not think I was going to make it. Doing all those work out classes and all, but I love them now. It has become my support groups for you see I am a recovering grease-holic. Yes, it is true if you can "fry it" I can "eat it". Ok, back to the YMCA....hope you enjoy in time. It has really help me stay focused.

Moderation is a very important key to being successful in our journey. One day at a time....Look for small victories...Look for non-scale successes.

Spark People research has found that people who get involved in social teams tend to be more successful in their efforts.

I want to personally invite you to join the SparkPeople's Official Healthy Habits Challenge Team. There you will find others that will support you in your journey and you will be able to help others as well.

On our team page BOBCATGIRL76 one of our team leaders has a great article to check out. Let me know what you think.

We are here to help. YOU can DO this! Oh by the way...have you ever tried Fried cardboard, don't have much favor but a nice crunch....lol....Live life today.

Welcome to SparkPeople. We are all here for the same reason, no matter what our personal story is. We are here to help each other to get to that healthy point we want to be in our lives. It is not going to be easy, but it is attainable. I have found that changing things up is the way to start weight loss. Make small goals and they will lead to big successes. You have to make you #1 and tell yourself that you are worth it. If you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of anyone else.Walking is an exercise you can start whereever you are and build on. Just increase it a little each day and watch you take off! And so will the pounds! You can do it! We are here to help! Welcome and get active on this site. emoticon
