It's brutal... leaving a tropical climate and coming home to temps in the negatives! We got home Tuesday night at 10 - I walked in the house and my hair immediately got all static-y! 3 of my nails broke by the next morning and my face turned dry again :) Last night I slept for 9 and a half hours and if I hadn't set my alarm I would have slept even longer!
It is good to be back with my family and back to work, but oh, I miss those walks on the beach. I miss being warm!
Morning walks are the best but I never got a great sunrise... there was heavy cloud cover every morning that I got up to see the sun rise! Ah well. It was still beautiful.
The best part of my trip, honestly, was meeting my Spark friend, Nora. It almost didn't happen too. She & her husband tried to take a taxi to the house I was staying in... it's a 40 minute ride. The guy drove them to Cabarete and then said he didn't know where the house was - needed the house name (even though the number was on the gates outside) and tried to drop them off on the beach... yep, he wanted them to walk the beach and look for the house they had never seen before! Well, after that fail, my boss's nanny called someone she knew who was a taxi driver and the next day Domingo picked me up and carted me off to Nora's resort. The problem was that he only wanted to wait an hour for me... so, it was a short visit, but it was a visit at least! And believe me, it was well worth it! Time flew by way too quickly of course, but I met up with this woman and felt like we had been friends forever!!! To top it off, she brought me a goodie bag with owl gifts for me :) Now I have things throughout my home to remind me of her! Wish I could do trips every month and meet all of my Spark friends - that would be fantastic :)
The other good news is that I managed to lose 2 pounds while we were there. Part of that is b/c food is an after thought to the people I was with & sometimes we went out and other times we didn't! My daughter hated that, but I actually didn't mind. It was so hot there that food wasn't top priority for once.
But, all good things must come to an end. It's back to the real world & back to real workouts every day .... and watching what goes in my mouth. Now everything is at my finger tips again & I'm back to reminding myself that food is fuel!!!
I'll end with a quote that I got from Nora - it came with an owl pin:
Be true to yourself, for there are others that trust in you.
Be honourable, for there are those that learn by what you do.
Forgive, for perhaps you'll one day need your share.
Love, and have faith in all those for whom you care.
Have a beautiful day, spark friends! I love you guys :)
