The More You Know

I have "started over" so many times on this weight loss journey that I sometimes worry whether I'm merely deluding myself that it will ever make a difference.

However, the truth is that even though I am may be repeating myself in terms of dress sizes and the numbers on the scale, each time I am breaking new ground.

Maybe it's awareness that this really is a lifestyle change, not a temporary fix. Or the determination that I want to be healthy even if my body never looks the way I want it to do. (Healthiness is it's own reward!)

Perhaps it's merely being bold in sharing my knowledge with others, or asking for help.

It could be rewriting old negative thought patterns, especially in how I view myself. Or pushing my comfort zone in relation to exercise.

Then there's the epiphany I had one day: 90% effort does NOT mean 90% capacity! Sure, you feel like you're going to die in the next 10 minutes, but guess what? you can keep going for 30, 45 minutes - an hour! - feeling that way. You won't actually die!

What I'm trying to say is - this journey is about so much more than the numbers, and no matter what happens with those, I continue to make progress.
