I was concerned about Sunday with a Board Meeting scheduled in a nearby town for most of the day and a superbowl party following that at a friends in a different nearby town.
The weather forecast for Sunday included a winter advisory. I usually am not intimidated by those and will drive through most weather, not to mention our local weather people tend to push the panic button. Regardless, I allowed myself an extra half hour travel time.
When I got up Sunday I could tell it had snowed and the wind was blowing. It was still coming down - the fine sort of snow, not those big wet flakes. I loaded the car and got on my way. Once I was outside the city, the highway went down to a two lane, snow and ice covered track. My normal hour drive was closer to two hours.
While at the meeting, the snow continued and the winds picked up. Our meeting let out at 3pm - I assumed my drive would be two hours - but was wrong again. Being later in the day, more people were out and about. There were several accidents and my expected two hour trip became two and a half hours.
Needless to say my friend hosting the Super Bowl party decided to cancel the party. The town where he lives was getting hit even harder than we were! Sooooooo, I got home, shoveled snow (some exercise!), got on the treadmill a bit, showered and watched the game. No junk food - but a big bowl of fruit to eat this week! Made myself some chicken for supper and all was well with the world.
Guess that was a case of divine intervention - which kept me from all those Super Bowl treats and helped me get that exercise in! WooHoo!
I love it when the forces work that way!
