New day!

I'm back!
It is so hard to get started. Why is it most workouts don't take in to account that I am old and fat and try to overwhelm me? There is so little time for exercise in my schedule but I will try to make it work. I have bought a bodygym hoping I can incorporate some time for it while sitting in my office. I am probably about 70 lbs overweight at this point in my life but my goal is to lose 50 lbs.
Fingers crossed and prayers said that I have the strength to get this done.
My mother has Parkinson's and a bad back and never tried to do anything physical. She can barely walk and some of it is the disease and some of it is plain laziness on her part. She has in the past started off with exercises and quite before she has worked through the initial pain of it. She had back surgery many years ago and quite the Physical Therapy that the doctors had setup for her because she was sure they were trying to torture her. I think this contributed to the fact her back did not heal properly. And before you say this is about you and not your mother, I just want you to know what is motivating me not to end up like her. She is only 77 and cannot walk or stand up straight and is in consistent pain. She doesn't even try anymore and her favorite words are "I can't." I'm want to make my favorite words to be " I can"

    Thanks for the advice, Eileen. I will keep it in mind as I go through this journey. Good luck to you, too! Sometimes it helps just to know someone else has the same struggle.

    Try using some of the beginners work outs on Spark. Lots of videos. I'm old and fat too and started with a beginners cardio work out. It was a riot watching myself trying to get in step ; ) So uncoordinated!!! I was at 195 the end of November when I decided enough is enough!! I know my weight will come off slowly so not stressing about it. I'm down to 188 right now. I'm basically not snacking---only an apple and peanut butter in the afternoon with a good breakfast and dinner. I'm up to 8 cups of water and do my exercises every morning. Today it was 25 minutes of just walking.
    I actually had to give up chocolate for a month (December) to break the hold it had on me. Now I don't have trigger foods in the house! Stock up on some healthy things you like to eat, but only eat when you are REALLY hungry---not that small rumble.
    Try tracking what you eat and drink on the start page or just on paper to keep track of where your calories are coming from. Chair exercises are good for when you can't get up and move around like at work. Lots of videos on Spark. Good luck to you! I hope you can get started and see some results.
