Day 76 Emotional Safety

Today's exercise is about creating a spot in your home where you can go to "be" in your emotional safe place. It can be a nice stuffed chair, a corner of the room, wherever you can go and surround yourself with things that make you feel good.

I live in a pretty small house, but I realized that I have a couple of places that I consider my safe place. One of these spots is a corner of my bedroom where I do my writing. I have books that I am reading on a shelf, my laptop on a table, a beautiful picture that my cousin painted on the wall, and most important- windows on 2 sides that let in a lot of light and also allow me to see the trees outside. This is the most quiet spot in our house and it is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. When I go to this safe spot I instantly feel comforted and able to let out my emotions. This is where I feel more connected with the world inside me.

The other spot I have created is on our front porch. We have an old futon couch that is really comfortable to sit on or lie down and catnap. I often go out there to drink my coffee and play with the dogs. It is also where I go to watch the weather because it is warmer than on the side of the house that faces the water. This is the spot I like to go to - to read, meditate, and commune with nature. When I sit in this spot I feel more connected with my outside world.
