A Happy Thanksgiving Post-A-Thon

Saturday, November 08, 2014

My cousin went to a workshop for her license as a psychotherapist .She learned a lot and has shared some of those things with me. One was happiness increases if we daily write down 3 things that went well that day, engage in one act of kindness, and write down three things we are grateful for. I thought this sounded like a great thing to do in November as we get ready for Thanksgiving. So every day I'm going to post 3 things that went well that day, one act of kindness that I engaged in and 3 things that I am grateful for. If this works, I will be really happy by Thanksgiving. I hope some of you will join me in this "Happy Thanksgiving" Post-a-Thon!!!

When I was in therapy, I beat depression by keeping a gratitude journal. I can tell you it works! When I get in a funk, I write about the things I am thankful for and it pulls me out of it.

    Went Well:
    1. I had a good visit with my brother and his family today.
2.I was able to balance "resting" and "getting things done" both of which are goals for Sundays!
    3. I made a recipe I haven't made in years, from memory, and it turned out well.

    Act of Kindness:
    1. I dog-sat for my neighbor this weekend. No charge. Just remember me next time you make seafood gumbo.

    Thankful for:
    1. I am thankful for my friends and family and this website.
    2. I am thankful for the improvements in my health and fitness.
    3. I am thankful for my pets.

    Went well:
    1) Work was slow so I knitted and enjoyed the guy who was speaking to the guests
    2) Janis came to visit from CA
    3) Puttering through the art festival tonight was fun

Kindness: cleaned up the back office because my boss is less stressed when it's clean.

    Thankful:
    1) A sweet kitty
    2) Good conversation
    3) Free food
