Keep it simple

Focus on the important; delegate the rest... I use to do everything for everyone and that was the beginning of an over extended lifestyle. Always putting my needs last, I had nothing left in the day reserved just for me. I am slowly turning that around by taking small simple steps that affirm what is important to me.

Its taken time to first figure out what IS really important to me and to sort that from what I think matters to others. It was a small effort but a huge step for me to take time after work to walk before dark to enjoy the sunshine and to notice the leaves changing colors on the trees around me. I walked, not long, but sufficient for my first day journey to this weight loss.

I thought about what I ate and asked whether I was feeling stressed before eating anything. Remarkably, I could stop myself from nibbling on a cookie at work mid afternoon because I recognized that I was stressed about work deadlines and not having enough time to do what I had planned to do this morning. It was then that I for once gave myself permission to 'let go' of that stress without eating a thing!... and, I did not even missed it as time passed.

We all try to do the best we can but if we don't examine our habits closely enough and slowly enough to realize what about that habit was steering us wrong in the past, we will never have the insight to make a change for the better! I'm not certain what tomorrow will bring.. but that's okay because for today... I had a fabulous day and can rest well tonight knowing that I'm off to a great start with a great attitude and a great plan!
