Gooseberry Falls State Park

I absolutely love fall and this year was one of the best for seeing the changing of the colors for leaves and I really enjoyed seeing all of these while hiking in a State Park. My husband is not a fanatic about the great outdoors, says it is way over rated, he is a Professor so much of his work involves reading and research and even as a child was never a fan of being outside so when I suggested we go to a State Park this time around in Duluth, he wasn't overly excited about my idea. But, being the great guy that he is, he always goes along with most of the things I want to do so off we went for a hike in the State Park. Here are some of the gorgeous things we saw while walking around.
The entrance to the trail
Since we could not get there the day before due to heavy traffic in the area, we were there by 930a on Sunday morning. The morning started off a little cool, but we were quite warm by the time we were done.
I was sure my husband was going to fall in but he was convinced he could get across the rocks and he did.
How these trees could grow in all of this rock was amazing. The roots were wrapped around all over.. very interesting.
I asked my husband what he liked best about our trip to Duluth this past weekend and he said, the park and getting lost with me. I am horrible with directions and I will think I am heading north when going South but my husband is very good with knowing exactly where we are going so at one point, the trail we took took us in another direction than we thought and my husband had to stop and figure out where the sun was to figure out where North was to figure which way we should go if we ever wanted to get home. I though it was the opposite direction than he did and thank goodness I listened to him or we might still be out there walking! I hope you enjoyed the pics! If you ever head that direction, I highly recommend it and best of all, it is free! There are not many State Parks that don't charge to hike their trails!
