Another milestone

Since today was really more of a fitness test than actually working out I decided to go for a walk carrying Hazel the whole way. We stopped at the park in front of the Y and I decided to rest underneath an oak tree while she played in the grass. I found it to be a pretty relaxing way to spend the late afternoon, just sitting in the shade with no digital distractions and just watching Hazel crawl around picking up acorns and leaves to check them out. Then something amazing happened.
I was facing Hazel when she grabbed my head and used it to pull herself up. Leaning on me she reached for a leaf that was stuck to my face and pulled it toward her. Then, very intentionally she pulled away and just stood there, all by herself. It only lasted a few seconds but I still couldn't believe it happened. And that I got to see it.
I know this isn't one of my milestones but I felt the need to write about it anyway. The biggest reason for developing this healthy lifestyle is to teach her and this story is as much about her as me. Hope you enjoyed that little glimpse into my daughter's development.
