If You Don't Change Anything, Nothing Will Ever Change!

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

I remember a silly old story.
A guy went to the doctor, and complained, "Doc, whenever I do this, it hurts."
The doctor told him, "Stop doing that."

As I read blogs today, I'm reminded of that story, and other similar ones.

One person was working with her friends from TOPS. GREAT!!!
Someone brought donuts for them to snack on. WHAT???
It's TOPS, fer cryin' out loud!
Where was the veggie tray? The big bag of grapes? The air-popped popcorn?

With friends like that, dear girl, you don't need enemies.

One person was tired and stopped at Taco Bell for supper. Reasonable!
Then he topped the meal off with three candy bars. GASP!!!!

If you get a flat tire, would you figure the day was already ruined and go around and pop the other three tires?

Someone's brother brought in a banana cream pie from an expensive restaurant, so she felt obligated to eat a piece.

It was HIS money, let HIM deal with it!

If it never crosses your lips, it will never stick on your hips!

Confession is good for the soul, but after confession, we are told to go and not repeat the sin. Many of these bloggers repeat and repeat and repeat.

Kinda like my son, who was forced to say "Sorry" after he kicked his brother, and then he kicked him again, and then said "Sorry" and then kicked him again.
UMMM...I am beginning to see a pattern here.

Small changes make a big difference in our health. But there has to be an actual CHANGE.

As the doctor said, "Stop doing that!"

Hahahahaha~ your story sounds like my mechanic. I say, "Hey Todd, my car dies on me when I make left turns." You guessed it: Don't make left turns was his reply. It's only when we truly get sick 'n tired of being sick 'n tired does change happen~ tho' for some not always for the best as they may've waited a bit too late. Yet, I'm a great believer in where there is life there is Hope! Thanks for sharing some of yours. emoticon BB~ emoticon

emoticon I get very tired of all the excuses and like you said, so often from the same people. They are just not ready to make the change. It's just hard to be patient with them.

And then there is moderation... two spoonfuls of ice cream, a tiny bit of pie, or share it with three others. Making the same mistakes over and over, means the mind set is not in place to eat right size portions, and avoid trigger foods. Being committed is a big step. People blog about it as they just aren't quite ready yet. But wanting it they may get the swing of it in time. Others just drop off Spark forever. I miss some that dropped off Spark with no real reason given. Might never know the rest of the story.

I don't know why but this reminds me of the story of the man who dies and goes to heaven and says to God, "God, I prayed to you night after night to win the lottery, year after year, but I never won one cent. Why didn't you answer my prayer?" and God says, "But Joe, you never bought a ticket."
