Rejoined My Running Group Today!

I haven't run with my group in over a year and a half because of an injury & then homeschooling my daughter last year. Well, today she started back to school! A new school since we moved... & it's her first year of high school! How did that happen? emoticon

I've been running well for about 6 weeks & building my weekly long runs. My last run was on Saturday and I did 7 miles! I was a little disappointed that I only averaged 13 mins/mile while I had averaged 12 mins/mile the previous week for a 6 mile run. However, each run is different! And, I'd taken my daughter to a concert the night before & was up until 2 am & only got 5 hours of sleep. So, I'll not worry about it!

Some good news: I'm now down 10 pounds from my recent high in December!!! WooHoo!!!

And, other good news: I re-joined the running group I was with a couple of years ago. I debated & debated about joining. First of all, they don't start until 8:30 & I could be done by then! And, it's HOT here in Texas so that really matters! Also, they are a pretty fast group (compared to me) & it bothers me & makes me feel slow. But, I like the safety aspect of running with a group. And, I like that they push me... though sometimes it might be too much. I have to watch myself!

I did 3 miles today (the choices were 2, 3 & 7). My average pace was 11:20, which is about what I've been doing on my short runs. But, at times we were running close to 10 min miles which is too fast for me. At about the 2 mile point, I walked & was on my own for the last mile.

But, I talked to an 'old' friend & she encouraged me to come back. She takes walk breaks, too, and runs a little slower. She was only doing 2 today & I didn't run with her.

Sorry I feel so scattered brained in this post! I'm excited about running. And, I'm excited my daughter's in school & I have a few hours to do the things I need to do... & want to do! But, first a lot of 'need to do' things. So, I'm off to shower & get things done!

    High-5! I think its great about the running ... and the wt drop.

    I run at about the same pace you do ... and the run group I go with is UBER fast ... and yeah, it can get a bit discouraging. But then again, I'm not running to beat others ... but to be healthy. And I have to stop and tell myself that at times ...and let myself know that ... even at 10 ...11...sometimes 12+ min-miles ... I am wayyyyy faster than those sitting on the couch not doing anything!

    GREAT JOB on your run! I joined a running group , too! It was really fun running in a group! My group runs a 10.30 min pace for 5 min and then walks for 1 min. I am training for a marathon, so the slower pace works for me. I can run faster and with out the breaks, but as I hit higher mileage, I think I'll be grateful for the breaks! I hope it works out for you! Keep yup the awesome work!
