Earwigs and Babushkas!

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

To-morrow is "hair day" for me----
Right now-I look like "Zu -Lu" Lady----
For some silly reason, I've decided to let the hair grow----
It's a bit of a challenge right now-
So--We have rain-----I heard on CBC radio this morning-----that, it will be a good day, if you are an EARWIG--pretty funny!
Yesterday, in the torrents of rain falling, getting to 10,000 steps was a challenge---At 4pm, in the rain, I finally went for a walk, which bumped up the stepper quite a bit---After dinner, the Dreadmill, (for the 3rd time that day)-brought the wee stepper up to the 10,000 steps for the day--Wearing this small thing does encourage one to get out there and move-----
....which gets back to the hair-----
Walking in the rain----
--probably shudda worn a Babushka-----
Do Sparklers out there know what a Babushka is??-----
My Mom always handed me a Babushka on a rainy day-----
Lord Love A Duck------Maybe to-day is a Babushka day again!!!!

Yup, it's hair week for me too, dye job and cut. If I had the head for it, I think I would shave it all off (what little there is of it!!!) I could use a Babushka on a daily basis, or a wig, hat, scarf...........anything to cut the hairspray down.... emoticon

Thanks for sharing... emoticon ...The precious grams in Slavic nations wear those kerchiefs and these ladies are known of course as babushkas. When we lived in Ukraine and Russia, I used to watch them working from early morn to late into the night...tending grands, washing clothes, beating rugs on outdoor racks, mopping concrete floor incessantly, growing a few green things, marketing (which always meant standing in line for long periods of time), going over school lessons with grands, making all the family meals...etc. etc. When the babushka dies, the family is in crisis in more ways than one.

OMG! YES, my grandmother never went anywhere without a babushka and a rain hat. Never see rain hats anymore much.

HUGS and enjoy your hair pampering!

The babushka seems more convenient than an emoticon on windy rainy days.

Babuska? Now that is funny. I haven't heard that for years. I grew up in a German Russian community in Kansas so heard it when I was growing up.

We have had more rain this morning but I don't want any of those "earwigs" here in Missouri.

Take care and have fun. Enjoy your "hair day".

I DO know what a babushka is! Thanks for the reminder. I LOVE your hair longer! Looks great...I can't let mine grow....natural waves get in the way and it drives me nuts!

GOOD FOR YOU on the steps and activity!

I think you look GREAT! But I understand the feeling of hair getting out of control. I have kept a short hairstyle for most of my lift, and when it gets a little bit longer, it drives me CRAZY!

We always work Babushkas at home but mom also called them diechles. Grandpa was a German who grew up in Russia so the names were interchangeable.

Babuska!! I love it!! My mother used to call it that too. It really means grandma in Russian. Ya lublu moyu Babusku!!! Russian for I love my grandma!! One of my aunts was Russian (My dad used to tease her and call the Mad Russian because she had a temper). Her kids always called my granny Baba.

Great on the steps!! Yesterday I walked an hour in the industrial park where my himself's therapy is located. The weather was so nice but tomorrow it is going to be hot and humid so today and tomorrow it is the treadmill! emoticon I really need to get over to the gym to join and start swimming. I need to emoticon talking about and just do it!!!

You hair looks great!! I wish my hair looked so good on a bad hair day. But then my son's girlfriend who is my stylist really went to town when I said short and she did short. But it is so much easier to take care of. Wash and wear!! emoticon

btw, the woman in the first picture could use a babushka!! emoticon

Haven't heard that term in a "dog's age" - I remember my mom mentioning that my grandmom (Hungarian descent) would wear them - I believe that's where the word originated........

You're looking great in that pic - I don't see you needing a babushka any time soon!

Babushka, I think its a rain cap or some type of hat. Growing up I always here that word and made the assumption that's what it meant. This is to funny, its been years since I heard that term. Hair days are everyday, I considered going bald emoticon
