Day 51 of 100 - "This Isn't Fair"

Wednesday, July 09, 2014

I started back reading Made to Crave today. I had ended with Chapter 9, so I read Chapter 10 "This Isn't Fair". Boy did it home!! I had made brownies to take up to the cabin last weekend. I had some left over. They were calling my name emoticon Well, I gave in and had one this afternoon with some Peanut Butter Cup ice cream.
Then I read Chapter 10. Here is a couple of quotes...

--"Our flesh buys right into Satan's lie that it's not fair for things to be withheld from us."
--"I realized having a pity party was a clue I was reliying on my own strength not God's."
--"...think beyond the moment. Say out loud,"This feels good now, but how will I feel about this in the morning?"
--"Weakness is hard, but it doesn't have to mean defeat. It is my opportunity to experience God's power firsthand."
--"Our taste buds make such empty claims to satisfy us, but perservering with God will make us truly full, complete, not lacking anything."

I plan on using these ideas next time I am tempted to eat something that is not really on my eating plan.

I think I am going to reread the first 9 chapters.

I finished all the final details on the 5 Mahan memory quilts I have quilted. I now have 8 more tops to quilt for my cousins. I have a couple for myself that I will do after the others are done.

I also made the scrappy binding for my sister's 50th birthday quilt. I still need to quilt it.

That's great! Sounds like you chose a great book to help you along!
Hope you are having a great day and keep up the great work! (Give the excess brownies, cookies, etc. away to another household or throw them away. It's worth it.)
    Be well!! (((HUGS)))

Thanks for sharing that, it really hit home. Last night I caved and had a pop tart, it didn't satisfy me, it made me crave more sweets! I might get that book to read!

I found your post interesting and relevant. We all need to be reminded of the importance of our long-term goals compared with our transitory pleasures.
