Day 39 of 100 - Dr Appt

Friday, June 27, 2014

This morning I had a follow-up appointment with my orthopedic doctor. The cortisone shots he gave me three weeks ago helped a little, but not 100%. I probably won't get anymore because I didn't like the side effects. It made me feel real weird and I had some heart palpitations. He said he doesn't like to give injections less than 6 months apart. Next time I want to try for Supartz again.

This afternoon I worked on sewing dresses for my two oldest granddaughters. Every time they see my they ask me to make them another dress. They picked out material last weekend. I almost finished one -- just need to buy a couple of buttons.
I got half of the other one done, when I realized I hadn't cut out the back of the skirt. I didn't have enough material to cut it out, so I improvised and pieced scraps together to make the back.

Wise idea to avoid the cortisone shot. Not only the side effects but over time they can damage the joint. That's one reason doctors limit how often you can get them. But my infectious disease doctor and my sister, a retired radiologist, both told me that doctors are too free to give these shots without thinking of the long term potential problems. And yes, I've had them in the past. But thanks to my histoplasmosis I'm off steroids for good, for good or bad! Anyway, something to think about. Is it worth the short term good for the potential long term harm.

I sure wish you loved next door to me!! You are such an inspiration!! I think I am done ripping out the stitches on my son's quilt (that I had messed up & it kept getting worse). Now I am re-pinning the 3 layers together, hoping it will all even out. I haven't worked on my hubby's quilt at all these last 2 weeks!

Sorry your shots didn't work. You are amazing for continuing to press on any way!!
    Keep up the great work!!

    Blessings emoticon
